Lawn Care Workshops
Virginia Cooperative Extension's Master Gardeners make available to local residents the best science-based strategies for keeping your lawns green and our waters clean. Free workshops will be offered to Arlington and Alexandria residents for your convenience. Register now for a workshops to be held at the following places and times:
- Saturday, March 1st, 9-12 a.m. at Walter Reed Community Center, Arlington
- Monday, March 3rd, 7 - 8:30 p.m.at Beatley Library, 5005 Duke Street, Alexandria
- Monday, March 10th, 7 – 9 p.m. at the Lubber Run Community Center, Arlington

Pruning Workshops
Virginia Cooperative Extension's Tree Stewards and Master Gardeners offer guidance on how best to handle pruning in your garden. Join Kirsten Buhls, Extension Agent in Horticulture, and John Noelle, Arborist for the City of Alexandria, at either of two free public workshops. Register for a workshop to be held at the following places and times:
- Saturday, March 8th, 9:30 a.m. to noon. at Thrifton Hills Park, 2814 N. 23rd Street in Arlington
- Saturday, March 22th, 9:30 a.m. to noon. at Ft. Ward Park, 4301 W. Braddock Road, Alexandria

MGNV Plant Clinics begin in mid-April and run through fall. Dates for weekly plant clinics are as follows:

American Horticultural Society
April 17, 18, & 19
At the AHS’s annual plant sale at River Farm, more than 30 vendors will be providing a variety of new and uncommon trees, shrubs, herbs, perennials, annuals, and other plants.
AHS members presenting a valid membership card may attend the preview sale from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Thursday, April 17. The public is welcome on April 18 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., and on April 19 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Parking is free for AHS members and $3 for non-members. Friends of the National Arboretum

FONA's signature outreach event, visit the 2008 Garden Fair for a unusual selection of plants selected by our dedicated experts, gather growing advice from USNA curators and FONA gardeners extraordinaire, and enjoy activities celebrating all the promises that Spring gardening brings. FONA members enjoy early access on Friday, April 25, from 11am to 6pm. The sale is open to the general public on Saturday, 9am to 4pm, and then any remaining plants can be had for bargain prices on Sunday between 11am and 2pm.
